THE INSTITUTE for Leadership and Entrepreneurship (ILE) is an interdisciplinary unit of Georgia Tech that enhances leadership and entrepreneurship for socially responsible and sustainable value creation.
Housed in Georgia Tech's College of Management building at Technology Square, ILE bridges units on and off campus to increase and enhance the opportunities available to those who want to be effective leaders in a complex, global arena.
ILE supports global citizenship and responsible leadership among students, faculty and members of the business community. ILE encourages individuals and organizations to create added value by focusing on a triple bottom-line. Through increased class offerings and coordinated activities, ILE empowers students and others from every industry and discipline to take the economical, social and environmental impacts of their actions into consideration when making everyday business decisions.
Bringing together students, researchers, business leaders, social proprietors, and other members of the global community, ILE’s activities generate a unique and powerful synergy that stimulates change at the core-level.
ILE’s interdisciplinary environment increases awareness beyond the individual and facilitates deeper thought and more coordinated, attentive choices. The skills and knowledge that students gain from their ILE experiences will be invaluable to them throughout their personal and professional lives.
Technology and Management Program: Bridging the Gap between Technology and Business
Companies need engineers who understand market forces and can anticipate the financial impact of technology investments. They also need managers who understand the technical aspects of new process and product development, as well as the capabilities and constraints within the engineering disciplines.
The Colleges of Management and Engineering at Georgia Tech are working to meet the need for graduates who can succeed on the interdisciplinary teams that are now standard in industry.
The Technology and Management Program enables undergraduate engineering and management students to earn a Minor in Engineering and Management. This select group of students learn one another's language through coursework in their respective fields and teamwork to solve real-world problems with the help and support of Corporate Affiliates.
Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Certificate
The College of Management offers a certificate in entrepreneurship for management and non-management majors at Georgia Tech.
Creativity, the development of novel and useful ideas, processes, or procedures by an individual or individuals working together can lead to successful implementation of a new idea or innovation. Entrepreneurship includes the ability to create and recognize compelling opportunities, assume risk, and attract the resources to transform opportunities into value.
The certificate covers knowledge and skills surrounding the entrepreneurial process including opportunity recognition, concept development, business plans, resource acquisition, and value creation.
IMPACT Speaker Series
For six years the IMPACT Speaker Series has brought highly successful business leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from "building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful entrepreneurship in large organizations."
The weekly series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni, and the Atlanta community an opportunity to network and learn from high tech entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business leaders.
Business Plan Competition
The Georgia Tech Business Plan Competition (BPC) is in its seventh year fostering entrepreneurship among Georgia Tech students and alumni. The purpose of the program is three-fold:
- Create an integrated learning experience that promotes "academic" excellence in the development of entrepreneurial concepts and business plans
- Encourage the founding of high-value, leading-edge enterprises and support student teams choosing to move forward with the startup of their businesses.
- Continue to contribute to and expand the entrepreneurial community internally within Georgia Tech and externally within the local, regional, national, and international entrepreneurial communities.
