CALLAHAN Fore is an 18 year old freshman at the University of Florida. He is also a social entrepreneur. When Cal was 15 his high school required him to do community service hours. While Cal and his classmates were eager to make a difference and were not afraid of hard work, they had no idea where to begin. Cal began to wonder if there was some way to provide an online network to share community service opportunities.
In summer 2007 Cal attended UF's Young Entrepreneurs for Leadership & Change Summer Program. The help and guidance he found there to turn his dream into a reality and almost four years later, Cal and a team of friends have launched a website: http://www.sweatmonkey.org/. At SweatMonkey, students can search and find opportunities for community service, internships, and jobs in their local communities.
SweatMonkey tracks the hours and compiles the students' involvement in to a resume which can be downloaded and submitted for college and graduate school admissions or job applications. SweatMonkey's mission is to connect students with their communities-- so that local service organizations get much needed help and students are given opportunities to develop valuable professional and leadership skills.
