NC State Student Entrepreneurs Pair Up to Launch Business Aimed at Helping Other Entrepreneurs

DESPITE a sputtering economy, two North Carolina State University students are successfully running a new business that reflects their love of entrepreneurship and desire to help others along the way.

For one, Bryan Young, it’s his third business; for the other, Matthew Laster, it’s the outgrowth of internships that enabled him to hone his computer science and web development skills. Their interests and skills complemented each other and in the spring of 2009 they opened an office for BusinessEmpireMag.com.

The company, launched as a web-based resource for entrepreneurs in August 2008, now has added a web building component as well as other services for businesses landing clients. “Our goal (with the new business) is to provide business solutions for small to large businesses,” Young said.

Young continues to take a series of entrepreneurship courses in NC State’s College of Management, working toward a minor in entrepreneurship. Young said that concepts he learned in class influenced him to start his latest venture, and that college faculty continue to offer help and advice.
