Creighton University is on the move. Ranked as number one among comprehensive Midwestern universities in the 2009 U.S. News & World Report, Creighton University has a broad range of curricular study that brings together nine different undergraduate, graduate and professional schools on one campus.
Creighton is a Jesuit university committed to excellence in its selected undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. Members of the Creighton community are challenged to reflect on transcendent values in an atmosphere of freedom of inquiry. Service to others, the importance of family life, the inalienable worth of each individual, and the appreciation of ethnic and cultural diversity are core values of Creighton.
The Creighton College of Business Administration Entrepreneurship Programs feature majors, minors and certificates in Bioscience Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for science, health science, law and business students. The University also offers a cross-disciplinary, weekend executive-style Professional Science Masters degree in Bioscience Management, with business and science tracks.
Seminar in Technology Commercialization:
This course, the first in the NSF-sponsored Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program, familiarizes students from the science, health science, law, and business disciplines with the bioscience technology commercialization process in the biosciences and allows them to practice these skills within an interdisciplinary team context.
Seminar in Bioscience Entrepreneurship:
This course, the second in the NSF-sponsored Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program, provides students with an opportunity to research the viability of, and structure a plan for, commercializing through licensing or start-up a bioscience research technology invented by a BEP student or faculty member at Creighton University or the University of Nebraska Medical Center. As a final exam, students present their commercialization plans to local investors, who award winning plans investment dollars in the annual BioVenture competition.
Social Innovation:
This introductory course provides students across campus with the opportunity to think creatively about ways to solve serious business and social problems in innovative ways through the application of free market principles.
Business Planning for Social Entrepreneurs:
This course provides social entrepreneurship business majors and non-business minors with the skills and faculty input in creating effective business plans designed to put their innovative ideas into practice.
Social Entrepreneurship Incubator/Internship:
This course allows social entrepreneurship business majors and non-business minors, supervised by Creighton entrepreneurship faculty and successful community entrepreneurs, to work with local start-ups and non-profit organizations in the Halo Institute incubator to bring innovative ideas into the marketplace.
