The Emerson Experience in Entrepreneurship Program Continues to Excel

STARTED in 2005, the Emerson Experience in Entrepreneurship (E3) program has been profiled by local and national media for its innovative immersive experience in researching, developing and starting a business. E3 is a Minor program within the Business & Entrepreneurial Studies Department at Emerson College. The program features a combination of applied and classroom learning experiences that helps students transition from the university to the front lines of entrepreneurship.

Over the course of two semesters, teachers in the E3 program (all of whom have entrepreneurial experience themselves) help their student’s examine the many aspects of entrepreneurship. The skills learned in the program is beneficial to students whether they plan on building their own businesses or plan on working for an established company; entrepreneurial thinking is not confined to start ups.

Considering the track record, the E3 program promises to continue to be a force in the entrepreneurial community. At the end of the spring semester Emerson College holds its Annual E3 Exposition. During the expo, students compete in a business plan competition for $12,000 in startup money. In addition to the competition, the Expo features a successful keynote speaker with entrepreneur experience. Past keynote speakers have included George Feldenkreis, CEO of Perry Ellis International (a clothing designer and distributor), and Michael Michalowicz, Author of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur.
