THE FIELD Fellowship at Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship at Baruch College offers students a unique and practical way to support the entrepreneurial endeavors of start-up and established businesses while developing the knowledge and skills necessary for success.
“…the fellowship over delivered on my expectations. Instead of the administrative task interns are usually assigned, I was immediately given the opportunity to assist professors in business consultations with clients."
Helping Local Entrepreneurs
A competitive, paid internship, the Field Fellowship gives participants on the job training through their work done alongside business advisors from Baruch's Small Business Development Center and Field Center faculty. Students help review business plans, help package loans and counsel clients. The Field Center’s role as an engine for economic impact has been substantial, with thousands of clients served, millions in financing obtained and numerous training courses completed.
Benefits of an Entrepreneurship Internship
Field Fellows also receive training on the key aspects of developing a viable business including business and marketing plans; evaluating and selecting funding alternatives, accounting systems, and technology; and studying the implications of business decisions.
Keren Crispen, a former participant in the Field Fellowship, had this to say about the program: “…the fellowship over delivered on my expectations. Instead of the administrative task interns are usually assigned, I was immediately given the opportunity to assist professors in business consultations with clients. I am proud of my accomplishments so far: I helped finalize a proposal for a new venture fund. I set up an undergraduate focus group to help start an entrepreneurship club. And most rewarding of all, I have my own clients. Throughout these experiences, I’ve taken an active part in decision-making, and my opinions are valued. I view my fellowship as the hands-on education that couldn’t be taught in the classroom...”
